From the time we are born and even into adulthood, mothers are an essential part of our lives. They deserve to be honored and celebrated daily for all that they do for us. Mother’s Day gives us the perfect excuse to go above and beyond to show the women who raised us how much they are loved and appreciated. Due to social distancing guidelines, Mother’s Day may be celebrated a bit differently this year. If you are not able to spend the day with your mother, there are still plenty of ways to make sure that she still has a memorable day. Continue reading

After a long, hot Summer, I think it’s safe to say that we’re all excited that Fall is finally here! Although it doesn’t quite feel like Fall just yet, we can say with certainty that cooler temperatures are on the way. As the air becomes cool and crisp and the leaves begin to transition to vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow, we are surrounded by all the wonderful sights and smells of the Fall season.
At Main and Stone, October happens to be one of our favorite months of the year. There’s no shortage of fun to be had this month between all of the festive events and activities taking place out in the community, as well as right here at Main and Stone. On October 7th, we’ll be hosting a Pumpkin Painting Happy Hour where you can sip on a drink and paint a pumpkin with your neighbors. On October 17th, join us for a Paint Your Pup Class in the NOMA Lounge where you will receive a sketch of your pup on canvas to paint for only $20. Our Halloween Party will be held on October 29th in the NOMA Lounge where you can enjoy spooky treats and a witch’s brew punch. Wear your best Halloween Costume for a chance to win a prize!
Be sure to check out the 3-day Fall for Greenville festival held on October 11-13. This is a family-friendly event where you can enjoy live music, food from 45+ local restaurants serving over 200 dishes, sample wines and learn about local beers. Take a short drive with your family to do some apple or pumpkin picking, see the farm animals, take a wagon ride, find your way through the corn maze, and enjoy some delicious Fall treats at Denver Downs or Stewart Farms. If you enjoy haunted attractions and you’re looking for a good scare, test your fears at Nightmare Dungeon or MadWorld.
Of course, there’s more to Fall than just enjoying the many seasonal activities offered in your area. You should take this time to prepare for the upcoming Winter months and the colder weather that accompanies them. Main and Stone has some tips to help prepare your apartment for the colder weather to keep you and your family warm this Fall/Winter without breaking the bank. Reverse your ceiling fans- this helps because it pulls the cool air up to the ceiling and then disperses the warmer air throughout the room. Use draft stoppers on your doors- these are quick and easy to put in place or remove and help to prevent a draft of cold air from entering into your apartment from under the door. Install insulated curtains- these help to keep the cold air out and the warm air inside your apartment. Use a dehumidifier- these are helpful during the colder months because they reduce the discomfort of the dry air as well as increasing the efficiency of your heating system. Before the temperatures get too cold, turn on your heat to test it out and make sure it’s working properly. If you experience any issues, let maintenance know so the issue can be resolved before the cold weather arrives!
Enjoy your Fall season! We’re looking forward to seeing you and your neighbors at our upcoming events this month. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see what other events we’re planning in the months to come!

Let’s face it, moving is stressful! At least once in your life, you’ve probably grumbled the words “I’m never moving again!”. However, life is ever-changing and moving is inevitable, so we’re here to provide some essential moving tips that will make the process go much more smoothly and painlessly.
In an effort to be as prepared as possible, keep a box of moving-day essentials handy. This box should contain items such as packing tape, permanent markers, disinfecting wipes, bottled water, paper towels, toilet paper, band aids, pain reliever and some snacks. In all the chaos and disorganization that comes along with moving, having these necessities on hand and close by, should help to alleviate some of your stress and aid in productivity.
Hiring a moving company to assist with this grueling undertaking will not only speed up the process, but also take much of the physical labor off your hands. Fortunately, the Greenville area has many reputable moving companies who are willing and ready to get the job done. Tiger Moving, Two Men and a Truck, and All My Sons are a few of the most popular moving companies in the Greenville area and can frequently be found assisting residents of Main and Stone with their moving needs.
When it comes to packing, cardboard boxes are typically the “go-to” for most individuals. An alternative option is to purchase a few large, plastic storage totes. Often times, they can be more durable than cardboard boxes, and they are great for storage once you’re finished with the move and all your belongings have been unpacked. Opting for the clear version of these totes can be very helpful when looking for a specific item or to easily determine what’s packed inside.
Where to Find Packing Materials
Packing fragile/breakable items is always challenging! For this daunting task, bubble wrap will definitely come in handy! Bubble wrap can be purchased, by the roll, at many different locations near you- Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Staples and Office Depot. Towels, paper towels, newspaper, or plastic grocery bags can also be used in place of bubble wrap to secure your breakable items during the move. For larger items such as mirrors, TVs, art, or large picture frames, blankets can be draped over these items for additional protection. Rolling suitcases can be used for transporting heavier (non-breakable) items such as books!
Packing Clothes Gently
Wardrobe boxes are another very useful tool when it comes to packing. These boxes can be purchased at stores like the ones listed above for purchasing bubble wrap. However, a cheaper alternative, and probably the best moving hack that we’ve come across, is to use garage bags in place of wardrobe boxes. Leave your clothes hanging where they currently are. With an open garbage bag, start at the bottom of the clothes and surround them with the garbage bag. Continue to pull the bag up until you’ve reached the hangers. Once you get the top of the bag around the hangers, tie the drawstring around the “hook” part of the hangers to keep them all in place for easy transporting!
Minimize and Declutter
One upside to moving is that it gives you a chance to go through all of your belongings and purge the items that you no longer want or need. Now you may be asking yourself what to do with said items. Fortunately, there are a number of companies to help with this – Goodwill, Salvation Army, and Habitat for Humanity are all great places to drop off donations. If you have larger items that you wish to donate, but are unable to transport, some companies allow you to schedule a pick-up with them. If you have other “junk” that cannot be donated, you can try 1-800-GOT-JUNK.
Good luck with your move! We hope that you enjoy these tips so you can feel prepared for your new residence. Moving is a chance to refresh your belongings and restyle your space. Take advantage of this opportunity and make it the best apartment you’ve ever had!
